If there’s anyone out there in the world,
Let me know that our friendship had once again
Washed onto a familiar shore. Unlikely rekindling,
Chance encounters in a foreign city, a ripple
In the ocean of time too wide to cross after a
Dozen years. Thank you for safe-keeping
The version of 12-year-old me and showing me
Now, flinging wide the treasure chest that had not
Rusted from the seawater and changes of weather.
From girls to women, we have found our footing
And stood firm on who we are. You, always
Kind, never change, be the little blip in this spectacular
City. I promise to safe keep her for when we meet
Again and catch up on a century of change.
Stand tall, take roots, stay well.
