Words and wisdom

Socrates says justice is truth, and law
Is not just, and many other things I
Misinterpret, for I understand neither
His words nor wisdom.

How I ended up reading only works of the
Greeks, I do not know, but into this lore I have
Delved too deep, and my dreams are filled by
Only his words and wisdom.

Help me through The Odyssey, and Love’s
Speeches (and homoeroticism) in Symposium,
Enlighten me with Apology, Clouds or The Republic’s
Elusive words and wisdom.

I suppose that is just what learning is about,
The painful ploughing in the fields of the minds
Of past Greatness, only to sow infertile soil
With their words and wisdom.

Suffering is learning, and suffer we must,
Going through lost and bumbling, not
Understanding, until one day we find ourselves
Filled with words and wisdom.
