Remember those dustbins hanging off the wall at the stairwell of a parking lot? Squarish and compact, not the roundish standing ones.
Here’s a secret: they used to hide kittens, mewing in their makeshift litter filling the entire quiet carpark with their cries. They never moved, even when found and stared down. And the next morning you would not find that they have left. I had scratched one by the scruff, but that was more than a decade ago. I hope I will still come across a cat in the garbage, a little surprise in my day.
