I could write a better mirror poem than Paul Tan

There are certain types of eye contact that appear

Almost criminal: in the mirror

With the first person in line, who, equally

Guilty I suppose, for glancing

Up from their password, risk transferring that secret,

The entirety of their savings, to you, waiting

Preying, or it at least

Seems so in his nervous mind.

The sliver of mirror pressed at eye level,

Poised with caution at the ATM, so that

You can see a knife or a nozzle

Eyeing your withdrawn cash, I suppose, that

Must be the point of it.
