Junior College has been WILD for the first half and while times I felt like drowning was a lot more frequent than in secondary school, I think it has filled me with lots and lots of love because it is a place I associate with a lot of happiness. Thus far, I can confidently say that every single day has something in store for me to laugh about till it is a legitimate part of my abs workout routine.
Something I realized, after 17 short years, is that I really will violently miss the people who have given a lil bit of themselves to me and vice versa. Only this year did I (suddenly!) realize that the cards and well wishes I have received is as precious as they are to me because they are like annual updates on how I am doing and how my relationship with different people have grown. (Like watching a precious sapling grow in your backyard and suddenly one day it’s like BOOM you need a shade to chill in?) You feel me? I have never been really communicative about thanking + praising people, so for my 17th birthday (which really is quite short an existence if you think about it, some cicadas take that long to even come out into the world from underground) here’s some anonymous stuff (in no particular order these just come to me randomly) for people who carry a piece of me and I can always turn to when I think I need a little refresher course on how to be me (the clearest sign that I come from an all-girls’ school is that all of them are females):
S: I think you have always wished to be someone you needed but never had when you were growing up to me. I think I cannot be more blessed to be able to say that in you, I have a constant mentor and role model (and even that word does not lend itself to the might and strength you inspire).
E: The world you live in is so intensely personal and full of your character. Thank you for providing a place of solace through your advice. (I always look to you for advice).
J: Thank you for being so sensitive (even more than you let on) and letting me brood, laugh, be a friendlier version of myself in your presence.
A: You literally remind me of the crackling hearth people huddle around and feel the chill leave them. Thank you for the place of familiarity and reasons to smile just by seeing you.
C: We are worlds different, but thank you for crossing the worlds just to give me a hug whenever I need them (and for the times I do not need them too).
X: Years have passed but something comfortable in you still has never changed. Still I always learn to let loose and have fun around you.
C: Thank you for being direct and genuine, affirming me when times had been tough. You are full of dreams and value add to everything in the times you do open up.
M: There is so much tact and patience to be learnt from you. I would like to think something about our personality is really similar and I am always inspired by you.
Z: You have taught me values of vulnerability and how to enjoy myself better in doing so. In a crowd, I am sure I can recognise your laughter.
Y: I learn to get excited about casually meeting people from your example. You have the best sense of humour (in my opinion) and you will never not be amusing.
S: You beautiful soul inside and out. I am standing beyond a field of flowers that smell like pink even if life gets overwhelming sometimes.
C: I think I am starting to figure out why people naturally like you. The air around you turns into cotton candy and it is so easy to talk to you.
L: Thank you for being so relatable and paradoxically so full of an individual (the room is a little too confined for you to stretch your limbs).
Y: YOU inspire me with goodness of nature and determination, even just by watching from afar.
K: Your communicativeness for both the personal and universal really is something I wish to learn from. Thank you for reminding me that fierce loyalty still exists.
R: I hope you never change. I sincerely hope that more people can listen to the thundering ground under the full run of your ambitions and dreams for the future.
M: Thank you for opening my eyes to a whole different perspective on humour. Your kindness is awfully straightforward but really genuine.
