Something crazy

A huge thank you to the pros Mildred and Zhi Jun who helped take these photos! Look at the wonderful increase in quality of photography (from the usual ones taken by my brother using an iPhone) I’m so shook! It was really cool to work with the pros because I got to try crazy stuff and they will turn out amazing thanks to them.

Also, many many thanks to the amazing Loretta, super photogenic model with amazing photography skills to boot. Great minds think alike and we got this unplanned colour coordination so right!

So here is the crazy outfit that I challenged myself to break the monotony of blacks and whites. The pants are very statement both in its colour and its fit, which reminds me of something that Aladdin would wear. If there is anything that makes me happy besides snazzy earrings and office wear, it would be a good pair of beautiful statement pants like these. I would always pair statement pieces with a simple black or white counterpart to balance the colours. The basic black or white acts as a blank canvas to help make the statement stroke stand out by itself. This outfit chooses one stand out piece and based everything else around it.

The accessories I chose to accompany this with brought out the details, and as much as possible, I tried to keep the colours in unity. Can I mention how much I adore this leaf necklace? It is such an intricate piece that stands out really well against a black canvas. I remember getting it a few years back purely for its detailed craft, with no consideration at all for how it goes with any outfit, or that it would become this handy.

Then to keep things tied together, a little flash of red to balance the pants is added via the little star earrings. I mean, while my style is still developing, I think that red is going to be a staple colour in my wardrobe because of how well it brightens everything.

(Clearly we had a location change) and here we had a little fun with a reflector that Zhi Jun brought along. It casts such a pretty silver and gold glow I am so shook and THIS CLOSE to gushing in caps. I guess beyond the business of taking good photos, it was awfully fun to just play around and get to learn things along the way.

This session made me grow a little more comfortable in my own skin because overtime I got used to all the people staring at us and really focus on having fun. I mean, when I first started out taking photos at the lift lobby I would freak out and pace about and pretend to talk to my brother whenever someone passed by. At the end of the day, people really do not care about you, and they will never remember the random girls having mini photo shoots that crossed their path that day.

And here comes the other segment that makes me freaking excited just looking at how the photos turned out. The fairy light idea sure as heck isn’t new, but it’s nonetheless a really unique experience to be involved in playing with it anyways. It was as close as we could get to Brandon Woelfel, but it turned out really well in its own way.

This is my attempt at something crazier, both in outfits and in the shooting experience itself. What a magical way to end the night!
