Also termed, dressing like a grandad/working adult. Here is a full visual presentation to provide evidence to my affinity for pieces that don’t fit a teenager.

I absolutely love silk blouses, or any white button downs for that matter, precisely because of how tailored and grown-up it looks. Never mind the fact that in my adult life I will wear them to death and they will become as special as mandatory school uniform, office-lady professionalism literally encapsulates my earliest memory of trying to define what style of clothes I like. In other words, little me really, really had a thing for suits and trousers and crisp white button downs, which certainly became a headache for my parents because I was missing out on “my youth” in trying to emulate being an adult.

(No, the wall I stepped on was not dirtied I made sure)
Also, if it isn’t already a consistent theme already, I have a tendency to enjoy black and white, basic domino and chessboard colour combination. I guess it is dull, no surprise, which caused my father to constantly chide me because I am wasting my youth away in drabby basic colour, along with it the freedom to wear any crazy colours all in the name of youth.

If I sounded like I was being snarky and actually hate wearing colors, that isn’t exactly it. (I promise the next post it will be craaaazy and out there) So to add a strange twist to the look, I added the scarf and crazy earrings to toss in some colours. Frankly speaking though, the neck scarf isn’t the best accessory in Singapore weather, but precisely because we don’t expect to see people wearing it, it feels eclectic (exactly what I need to spice up the look) and reminiscent of some of retro funky adults.

Yeah, real funky retro people who randomly start jazzing up to the jukebox or something. You get the point.
Moving on to the key piece that makes the look so outdated and old man-ish, is the pair of baggy black trousers. Something is wrong with me, but I love this pair of hand-me-down trousers because firstly trousers=workplace=next on my strange addiction. I really don’t think something like this exists in everyon’s wardrobe, but baggy pants changes up the silhouette of the look entirely, and if I were being honest, I love trousers more than jeans because of the breathability of it (which is KEY in Singapore weather)
And finally, the one thing I am craving to wear is a pair of ankle boots because I have never worn them before (owing to the fact that I could hardly find any shoes my size previously) and that Singapore weather has never allowed for one to freely wear ankle boots without looking like an out-of-season snowman or something. I love this pair especially because it is my first pair, and also because it was a delight to get it. It was the last pair, on sale at half its price, and it was actually my size, how rare is that!

To end off, here is a retro-ish photo that makes me look like a grandma (the hair?). And that is me pointing to the future and everything beyond for us to embrace (I’m kidding really).
