We’re back at it again with ways to style our good ol’ school t-shirts! One thing I’ve noticed here is that our school shirts are always of the strangest colours (hot pink and green are the weirdest I’ve seen thus far) and since we’re tying to be on a positivity streak, I’ll file that under one of the pros of having school t-shirts. They really inject life into my rather tonal wardrobe, so I thought why not take advantage of that and center the entire outfit on the shirt colour?
It didn’t hurt, especially since blue is my favorite colour. There’s something really tom-boyish about denim and white sneakers so while at that, why not throw in some denim-on-denim? Adding some texture and difference in fabric to the look gives it a completely different vibe.
While accessories do play a role in elevating the look a little, another trick is to throw on a third piece. Bonus ++ the next time you choose an outerwear go for something that allows you to put a little unorthodox spin on the way you style it, like zippers or buttons, that you can use to make up for the absence of accessories. In this case, it not only served that purpose, it can help to conceal the giant school identity smack on the front of the shirt that may make one look like they’re going for school activities.
Compared to the previous outfit, this look took on a more casual direction. Goes to show how versatile a t-shirt can be depending on what you pair it with. Also, last rule of thumb that I have for dressing up any look is to wear covered shoes (so vice versa if that’s the look you’re going for). It’s not as though it’s wrong or anything, but wearing your school t-shirt with flip-flops doesn’t really count as a put together look does it? I suspect that’s the main reason why most people don’t choose to wear their shirts, but when styling it treat it as if it’s any other pieces of clothing and give it some thought. We did pay money for them, and it’s about time we don’t just hang onto it for purely sentimental value.
