We knew the lyrics to the songs a decade ago

National Day Message 2017
I’m sorry I have to make the 52nd outfit change for this simple message I try to convey. I thought you guys might be bored by repetition.

What I mean to say is, under all these mumbo jumbo that I didn’t write myself, National Day is more than just a nation’s birthday. It’s a day for us to all dress like a flag (which resembles one of our neighbour’s more than ours), belch NDP songs, and as we sway like red choppy waves after a shark attack, paradoxically a sense of unity is instigated through looking the same way and doing the same thing. We are a swaying pendulum, feeling the dispassionate patriotism surge with every nostalgic song, brainwashing on a massive scale to make you believe you are the most patriotic citizen, regardless of the 364 days of you being the most uncooperative, anti-nationalist citizen track record. Today, I don’t ever explicitly say this, but join me in celebrating the day of most effective, unabashed and uncensored propaganda!

Honestly, was that supposed to sound anti-government? It is amusing to consider why is it necessary to celebrate the nation’s birthday, just like how it is obligatory to celebrate our close friend’s. No one did ever suggest that propaganda was bad, right?
